The Yellow Caterpillar

Now this was something I had never seen before… and it seemed especially out of place on a playground. It was a caterpillar. Not a normal caterpillar though; this one was 7 feet tall, about 100 feet long, and it had a skin that was 12 inches thick. Not to mention that it was made out of steel-reinforced concrete. It was just one more thing to add to the list of paradigm-shifting experiences that took place on our trip with the David Project to areas that have been at the forefront of the Israeli-Arab conflict for decades.

The bus rolled up at 8:30am, filled with girls from the Pnimiyut Seminary in Tel Aviv, our travel companions for the day.  We climbed on-board and filled every empty seat with our backpacks and peanut butter sandwiches in hand.
