What Are the 12 Days of Nissan—and Why Do They Matter?
In the blur of Pesach prep—scrubbing cabinets, sorting toys, and hunting for chametz—it’s easy to overlook the deeper spiritual invitation of this season. But according to Chassidic and mystical teachings, the first 12 days of the Hebrew month of Nissan hold a profound energy that’s often hidden in plain sight.
Each day corresponds to one of the 12 tribes of Israel, and in turn, each tribe is linked to one of the 12 months of the Jewish year. That means that from Rosh Chodesh Nissan to the 12th of Nissan, we are essentially previewing—and planting seeds for—the entire year ahead.
Rather than approaching this time as just another item on the Jewish calendar, what if we treated it as a time portal? A sacred reset? A divine opportunity to pause and say:
"Who do I want to be this year?"
"What kind of presence do I want to bring into my life, my home, and my spiritual path?"
It’s tempting to think we don’t have time for spiritual reflection in Nissan. The cleaning, the shopping, the mental load—it’s a lot. And especially for women and mothers, this month can feel like one long sprint toward Seder night.
But here’s the truth: you don’t need to add more to your plate to connect meaningfully with the energy of Nissan. You just need to bring a little presence to what’s already there.
This is the heart of the Harchava podcast’s special Nissan series: each episode offers a short, soul-nourishing moment to ground, reflect, and reconnect with your purpose and path. With the help of transformational coaching tools, positive psychology, and gentle Jewish embodiment practices, you’ll be guided to align each day with a different tribal energy and soul theme.
The Energy of Rosh Chodesh Nissan: Beginning with Kavanah
The first episode of this series is all about intention setting.
Rosh Chodesh Nissan isn’t just a new moon. It’s the first month in the Torah’s count of the year—a month associated with redemption, rebirth, and the activation of miracles.
It’s when the Mishkan was completed. It’s when the princes of the 12 tribes began offering their inaugural sacrifices. And it’s when you’re invited to step forward and say, “This is where my new cycle begins.”
You don’t need to be fully ready. You don’t need a five-year plan. You just need one thing: willingness to begin again.
Soul-Centered Tools to Anchor Your Year
Each episode of the 12-day series includes:
This integrated approach allows you to move beyond information into transformation—all in less than 10 minutes a day.
As you begin your journey through these 12 days, let the first practice be one of inner hospitality.
You are building a Mishkan within yourself. Every breath you take in awareness, every intention you set with honesty, is a piece of gold, silver, or copper in your soul’s sanctuary.
Let this be your foundation for the weeks ahead—not perfection, but presence.
Take a few quiet moments with these questions. Let the answers rise without overthinking:
